I was referred to Paul by a co-worker for my CCW training.
From my initial contact to the end of my CCW course, Paul was professional, knowledgeable and made me feel comfortable.
I live in Sac County and had to take the 16 hour course - Paul covered more material than was required and explained things in a way that I understood. He took the time to go over my questions until I had a complete understanding.
I was very nervous about qualifying. I had one gun I was familiar with and had shot before and another that I just acquired and had never shot.
Paul had a way about him that made me feel at ease out on the range. He was very positive and supportive.
He made running through the drills fun - which really helped me relax and be ready to qualify.
Thanks to Paul I passed the qualifications for both guns

I just participated in the NRA Basic CCW class (8hr) for initial permit applications (on 08/09/2020). Though I've had my CCW for nearly a decade, I wanted to experience the NRA curriculum, and accompany some friends who are new to CCW.
I found the CCW curriculum to be the best I have seen, with excellent spiral-bound books to take home for personal reference...all part of the course cost (I would have easily paid $30 or more just for this material). Paul was excellent in the classroom setting, which made the day fly by, with a great deal of interaction and helpful Q&A. It was evident that Paul knows his material and was prepared to answer every scenario question we posed of him.
Range time. Range setup was quick, and safety was paramount. Paul maintained a good command of the firing line, and I felt very comfortable the entire time, regarding range safety.
Lastly, I observed Paul providing grip/trigger instruction to students that were interested in feedback. My friend's target improved quite a bit after Paul provided recommendations, as well as explaining the 'why'.
Needless to say, if you are looking for a quality CCW class, this is the place to go!
If you are needing to learn basic pistol proficiency, I would recommend reaching out to Paul for separate instruction on that matter, which he also provides.

My pistol knowledge was already up to par concerning the level of this class, but I attended the Basic Pistol Course because it is a prerequisite for other NRA classes. Paul is very friendly, did a great job, and provided a welcoming environment. He was very focused on safety, and reinforcing the five basic handgun rules. There were plenty of material to take home which included a Basic Pistol Handbook that makes a great quick reference for anything from safety, how to handle a pistol to cleaning and storing handguns and ammunition.
Even though I was the only one to attend the class that day, Paul decided to go through with it anyway, rather than rescheduling it. I was please with that, because it gave me a one on one instruction and allowed him to spend more time with me at the range for the qualification portion of the class.
